Valentines Day, which is annually held on February 14, is one of the most romantic days in the year. For many, it is a time in which they share a special moment with their loved ones.
The origins of Valentines Day are not clear but many believe it stems from St Valentine, a Roman saint who died on February 14 in the year 269 AD, and that day has long been associated with a tradition of courtly love.
With great English poets Chaucer and Shakespeare romanticizing it in their work, it gained popularity throughout Britain and the rest of Europe. Valentines Day then began it's rise in popularly around the 17th century. By the middle of the 18th, it was common for friends and lovers to exchange small tokens of love and affection with gifts or handwritten notes. By the early 1900, printed cards began to replace written letters.
In celebration of one of the most romantic days of the year, I am giving away both of the bracelets pictured below. My inspiration for creating these two romantic bracelets came from my earlier post on Pantone 2014 Colour of the Year – Radiant Orchid. The Amethyst in both bracelets is in celebration of the traditional birthstone of February which symbolizes piety, humility, sincerity and spiritual wisdom.
